Ellie Madsen is a researcher, software engineer, and designer based in New York City. She works at the intersection of media, computation, and the environment. Her research practice critically engages digital representations of the Earth, including geographic information systems, satellite embedding models, spatial data visualization, and computer graphics.

Ellie is currently studying Computational Design Practices at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Preservation, and Planning and conducting research at the Center for Climate Systems Research.

Ellie was born in Wisconsin, earned degrees in Computer Science and Environmental Studies from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and previously worked as a software engineer at Pinterest in San Francisco, California.
